Good evening,

It is really “bad” to always carry behind your workstation ... especially on pleasure trips or work it is! I would like to know if someone has ever been able to use solidworks from their tablet (ipad example)
I am exploring the various methods example:

- Remote deskopt
- teleassistance systems (leaving home your bulky and uncomplicated pc workstatio)
- other ideas?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Remote desktop and teleassistance are two remote access systems, I do not see substantial differences.

an alternative could be cloud solidwork.

I don't know how you work on ipad, I think that to do even little, you need a station with keyboard and mouse. the most compact alternative could be a smartphone with desktop mode (type samsung, huawei or motorola) and use the remote desktop of google to connect to the post. to work well it still serves an external monitor, a keypad and a mouse. at this point it is worth bringing a small laptop or a chromebook.
bringing a workstation with installed solidworks does not serve and exposes to thefts not only of the hardware, but also drawings/projects. therefore better a "empty" device of data and well protected for remote connection.

What kind of pleasure is it, if you take you behind the job? Leave everything at home and enjoy the trip.

@ste23 if it may interest you there is shapr3d for ipad. it is a mechanical cad.
I use it to see the drawings that sends me a firm to lay out the calculation reports of their products. they work in solidworks but I let them save everything in step so they can read the drawings or with shapr3d or with rhino or autocad. I don't have to change them.
shapr3d, in the free version, still allows the vision and modification of the drawings but the rescue remains in the shapr3d format. for outgoing conversions you have to switch to the paid version. the program also allows to make renderings and putting on table 2d and is available for mac and windows as well as for the ipad (where it was originally born).
Take a look. Maybe it could help you.

p.s.
the use of the pencil is mandatory. then the ipad you use must support it.

I think the cad on a tablet only makes sense if you have to do visualizations, not to model. you are from the customer and want to show him the project, perhaps using a video obtained from the appropriate application of the cad.

for these needs only display / comment / application use notes such as edrawngs

solidworks in the cloud ... I think it’s a little too expensive ...

Yes! It's a cad I've been testing these days and I have to say it surprised me! ideal to model the idea of the moment and share it with the collaborators.
at the end for my travel needs, I am consolidating edrawings for ipads for those projects on site or open .... just to open the 3d and maybe answer some emails, with shapr3d and really convenient a quick modeling from tablet to share ideas!
