Hello, everyone!
I just started using comsol 5.5 and I was assigned this problem to solve.
I have a soil, which is invested by a cylindrical radiation and perpendicular to the soil itself. I want to put a point source on the ground. this source and so also the soil, are in contact with the air at temperature of 15 °C and transmit to the air by convection.
the layers below the free fur of the soil have a certain temperature, which varies as I descend into the inner layers of the soil. the goal is to understand if isothermics have the form of semicircles for an observer who is placed in the underground at infinite distance (i.e. very large) from the source.
I created 2d geometry, going on "model wizard" and choosing as a module "heat transfer module" and as a regimen that transitional. After that, in the initial screen I created a very large rectangle (order of 10^5 in length and height) and placed a point (small radius in comparison to the size of the rectangle) on the upper side of the rectangle. is it correct?
I don't know what to do anymore. Could you help me, please? Thank you very much
