contacts in abaqus

Hello, everyone. I am mainly a user of neinastran but for the occurrence I also mention in abaqus. I write to ask you kindly where I can find in abaqus the options that allow me to realize a contact even between surfaces that are initially detached but that during the analysis will be in contact. I better explain: in neinastran it is called "max activation distance". You know nothing about it.

Hello emanuele,

in abaqus it is possible to make a contact bond in the following way. you need to build contact properties in the interaction-> properties interaction module.
insert the contact properties (if you need to model a "simple" friction you have to put both the tangential and normal behavior). then go to the interaction manager and create a contact (always in the interaction module). I don't know what you have to create; If you need to create contact between two surfaces you can use surface to surface contact and in the different options you need to choose (such as the surfaces that must have such contact) you must put the contact properties previously built.

Thank you so much matteo, too kind! But I also ask you something more specific, which does the slave adjustment mask? I used "adjust only to remove..." once to stabilize a contact that initially in the analysis does not come into play but eventually yes and the material is plastic defined with drucker prager. the calculation went to convergence splitting that voice but I don't know exactly what it does.. Now I verify the results that make sense, but I'd like to understand what I used.

My email is [email protected]In the meantime, I take advantage of it to ask you if you've ever had a "Saved" contact with abaqus. in a few words I have two bodies with a common surface and this has to be supportive.only that I have the mesh and not the geometries so I can not model that face to coincident knots. what kind of interactions I have to use and which property.
