can someone recommend me a good method (pre-existing or macro function that is) to create an exact copy of a set, also creating copies of subsets, attached parts and relationships, so that it is independent from the previous one?

I will say more:
I have personally tested that if you copy with rm of all solids and then manually copy the dfts and put them in the same level of the associated 3d you will see that they take the link automatically. if you use different folders for dfts then better do with rm.
rm allows you to build any subfolders, etc.
the thing is not reduced to only copy but you have to use the rename function.
