doubts closing mold

Good evening to all,
I am new in the design of plastics and I would have a simple doubt. in designing an injection mold, could create problems a closure of the type shown in the image, is there protruding compared to the closing plate? would require more costs?
ps: the mold shown in the example is not the product that will be made (which is more complex and still in working), but an example geometry, just to make you understand what I am talking about. to the right is the section of the same mold.

no, in principle the closing closures of the plates are carried out without problems, in many cases it is practically the only possible solution, or however can be the most convenient in the complex. keep in mind that often (almost always) the two halves of the mold are not made of single piece but disassembled in multiple dowels and therefore it is not necessary to remove all the "excess" material from an entire metal block; This example can clarify:http://www.steelform.it/photos/pic00408.jpg

hello paolino, thank you very much for the clarification. If I understand correctly, do you mean that it is not always removed all the material from a single metal block, but there are other pieces of "filling"? or did you mean that the mold can be divided into several parts and after joined?
