Good morning.

I've just been using ansys and I'd like to understand some things to improve the results of the analysis.
I have to do a static analysis of a portion of the ship but the real problem I find myself is to make the knots of the mesh coincide and the contacts between the bodies. once I get the results, if I make a 5x scale I see the bodies that are detached between them, despite trying them all with contacts. the model is the following 20200316_102503.webp20200316_100704.webpthe model is all in solid, but I'm starting to think that maybe the best way for these models with so many elements is to use shell elements for sheet and beam for reinforcements.

Is there a way to connect all the mesh knots automatically so as not to use contacts? because the surfaces are so many and make them coincide manually takes too long.
do you have other tips that could simplify everything?

Thank you.

automatically does not seem to me, even because you should give a tolerance to the knots "vicini!.

make a simplified geometry, shell. then you can paste the edges, with the correct tolerances. or you have to cut the surfaces on the edges and put the matching knots

I finally solved by adding contacts manually.

another question: if I create a material such as aluminum 5083 how do I insert the correct values to have the sn curve? Is there a list of all materials with their sn curves?
