Hello everyone,
I am an engineering student and I am using ansys for the thesis; I press that I am not an expert, and I have a problem in importing the model from cad to ansys: I passed the file in the format iges and followed the import procedure file>import>iges but I see an error window with written

because keypoint merging has not been performed, automatic volume creation is suppressed

I have seen that sometimes you can export only the surfaces and extrude them directly from ansys, but the model I have to work on is very complex so I don't think this solution is feasible.
the strange thing is that the same model is normally opened in ansys workbench..

Does anyone know what to do? ?

thanks to all in advance

I don't know much about ansys, but probably the geoemtry you try to import has some problem. definitely ansys has tools for import problems, but if you leave from already "prepared" geometry for the fem it is better.

What do you have to work on geoemtria?

Hello and welcome

ps: eye to the regulation and follow the advice that gave you the supermod sandra

Hello, matteo,

for modeling I used simply autocad 2010, and to pass the file in iges format I opened it with autocad mechanical (the classic autocad did not allow me to pass the file in iges format). .

the fact that I don't understand is that I tried to import ansys also a simple cube to see if the problem was the model in cad but I don't even care that.

Any ideas? ?
