Hello friends,

use currently autocad 2008.
according to you what is the best way to draw on different planes in autocad?
assign to the different elements of each different layer plane,
save each upper floor as a block
or use xrefs?

What do you mean by plans?
- different heights z (drawing in 3d)
- different types of objects
or what?

I think I understand that for "Plans"you mean the plans of a building.
already in another discussion have intervened to suggest the use of xrifs, realizing a basic design that can be used by multiple users so that the changes, naturally approved by all, are usable by everyone always working on an updated design.
even the floors above the base, according to me, should be xrifs to be able to overlap, if necessary, to all other plans.
for example, the enormous utility of control of the pillars, the bearing walls, the forometry, the sigles assigned to the structures between them overlapping etc.
I also use autocad 2008 and, with this version, xrifs are considered blocks.
I hope I've been helpful.
Have a good day.

I think it depends very much on the physiognomy of the building and how you want to structure the interior
For example, if the external shape does not vary throughout its development (parallel building) I create a block of perimeters with marked savings, forometrics, stairwells, lifts and pillars, then I cover it for all the floors I have and every floor the development as I want.
if instead the physiognomy changes I hold valid only the pillars and the stair rooms, marking the alignments of the windows, but the principle is the same.
if you work in teams and each uses a different location, the xrefs are excellent, although sometimes (for those who are not accustomed) create a lot of confusion in the initial stages.
you can also use the layers and save the "layers" for each floor, but personally I find it uncomfortable especially in the management of furniture blocks.
