marc is one of the market leading solutions for nonlinear analysis implied to finite elements. in combination with pre and postprocessor liing, marc offers a complete solution for the analysis of highly non-linear problems. non-linear analysis management usually takes a long time and, to make the most of hardware and software resources, the most expensive calculations are performed at night or weekends.
iwf engineering was designed to create automation tools that could generate more results in less time for long nonlinear analysis. Moreover non-linear calculations are characterized by that sometimes these are interrupted prematurely due to errors in the input file or to the occurrence of some particular conditions and that the preparation of the input files may take a long time, especially in case you want to vary many parameters. for such reasons iwf engineering, which is very experienced user of marc, has developed a set of macros to simplify some operations. the three developed tools are independent but easily interfaced and include:
• iwf dat-file value change: automated definition of dat files for parametric studies. all input parameters such as loads, environment variables, material properties, geometries and breaking values are considered in the generation of a set (up to 100) of dat file. such files can then be managed by iwf launch.
• iwf lauch: creation of a list of simulations and its management during non-work hours. analysis management parameters in Marc input files can be changed separately. this routine also allows to perform certain subroutines at the end of the analysis, to generate a calculation report and to send it via email and to easily analyze calculation errors using iwf out-file viewer. This tool acts as an analysis manager that manages calculation queues, sends emails at the end of analysis and generates calculation reports.
• iwf out-file viewer: provides a list of all error messages in the order in which they occurred by providing the user with instant feedback.
