personally, given the little experience, for now I see it a risky choice. I think it's preferable for you to experience for a few years. In the meantime, I would not only limit myself to the design but I would also try to form myself in other areas, e.g. drafting technical documentation and instruction manuals, obtaining a good preparation for the integration of various instruments: cad, office, adobe for drawing, calculation, image processing, video and more.
This is because when you introduce yourself to the companies that will require you for example the project of a device, you can also propose other connected services (catalogue, manual of use and maintenance, rendering, video, etc.) expanding your chances of getting that job.
