penetration

during a finite element analysis, to evaluate the deformation of a structure, I found a problem of penetration between components, as if ansys did not recognize the structure as solid.
I tried to break the mesh and change its shape, but I always have the same problem.
I use ansys student so it could also be a license limitation problem, but if someone had found a similar problem and could help me with it I would be extremely grateful.

fems do not control penetration unless a contact between the two parties has been defined.

you have movements that are in the order of 10^-7 mm but it seems to me to see a fairly marked interconnection. is that you have inserted a deformation amplification factor in the display of outputs ? sometimes to highlight a movement you put a x10 factor, x100 .. but the fem does not take into account that this factor can lead to any compnetrations.

if instead the display factor is 1, it means that the interconnection is real and that you will have to define the contact between those surfaces, as they have already suggested before me

I can't see if it amplifies the output. In any case, the annex above shows two components that should crawl on each other (they would be conjugated profiles) and do not connect. However, should the contact between the surfaces be defined?

when you view the outputs in ansys workbench is quite visible at the top of the options the amplification factor.

in any case if the components you show us are made to crawl, you should have already defined the contacts ... the crawling is a contact. .

I think you have to give us more information, because I think you're wrong something very conceptually.

I changed the structure and that problem doesn't persist, probably wasn't realistic what I wanted to do. in any case now the surfaces crawl without having defined a contact, also because they are born as separate bodies. only when deformation comes into contact and crawling.
