msc software enters the computational fluid dynamics market (cfd) with xflow the leading company for fem and multibody solutions will offer its customers today
also a cfd softwaresanta ana, ca--(marketwire – 23 May 2011) – msc software, the leading company in providing multidisciplinary solutions, today announced that it has signed a strategic partnership with next limit technologies for the marketing of xflow, a new advanced solution for computational fluid dynamics (cfd).
xflow is a very powerful cfd solution that uses a lagrangian approach, developed internally to the company, based on the method of particles that can easily manage the typical cfd problems in the engineering field, design, scientific research and architectural structures. xflow allows to simulate the flow of gases and liquids, heat and mass transfer, moving bodies, multi-phase phenomena, acoustic problems and interaction between fluid and structure.
developed for engineers and analysts who need to quickly get answers related to complex flow behaviour, the xflow cfd approach allows the creation of advanced models in a simple and intuitive way, minimizing the use of parameters and avoiding the mesh creation process, typically very expensive from the point of view of the time required.
the main feature of this solution are:
approach without mesh. This xflow approach is based on the particle method and is completely lagrain, so the fluid mesh is not required and the complexity of the surfaces is not a limitation. xflow can manage moving bodies and deformable parts and adapts to the quality of input geometry.
solutor based on the method of particles. xflow uses a new particle-based kinetic algorithm, which solves the equations of boltzman and ship-stokes in compressed field. the solutor also includes the modeling les (large eddy simulation) and advanced models of walls not in balance.
advanced modeling. xflow is able to manage complex and large models and greatly simplifies the set-up phase of analysis in case of presence of moving parts, imposed or forced motions and contacts.
advanced analysis. the xflow solver also allows to perform thermal analysis, to analyze flows through porous walls, non-newtonian flows and complex boundary conditions.
adaptive wake refinement. the xflow engine automatically adapts the scale of resolution according to the user’s requests, refining the quality of the solution close to the walls and adapting dynamically to the evolution of the trail as the flow develops.
wall model. xflow uses a unified wall function to model the boundary layer. This wall model works in all cases, without the need to select different algorithms depending on the conditions and without worrying about the different limitations of each different approach.
parallel calculation. xflow supports parallel calculation on multi-core machines with almost linear scalability.
“We have selected xflow as a partner thanks to its superior visualization capabilities and innovative approach to cfd problem modeling,” said ken welch, vice president for msc software product management. “This technology represents the future of the cfd. we expect great interest from msc customers for this new solution. xflow goes to complete msc technology very well. with this new offer, msc becomes the only company with a portfolio of simulation solutions ranging from structural calculation to cfd, to multibody dynamics, to modeling control systems. ”
“The next limit team was anxious to put xflow technology at the disposal of a company that was already a leader in the cae field,” says victor gonzales, CEO of next limit technologies. “We are sure that the sales and support organization of msc will accelerate the use of xflows to companies that need advanced and innovative cfd solutions. ”
