talgo selects cae solutions of msc.software for virtual prototyping of high speed trains
the Spanish railway company talgo uses the unified license model of msc to increase technological innovation and provide high quality products and services
holy ana, ca...(September 23, 2010) - msc.software, the leading company in the provision of multidisciplinary solutions that accelerate product innovation, today announced that talgo upgraded the license system called enterprise advantage license unit (ealu) to allow the research and development team to flexible access msc simulation solutions.
talgo is specialized in design, production and maintenance of material and railway equipment. the company uses adams to validate railway suspensions, to ensure that they exceed certification standards and to perform faster simulations of high-speed trains.
the tip product of talgo is a high-speed train with passive tilting system and equipped with a variable discard system. This system allows trains to operate on different types of railways and, therefore, to travel between destinations where different discard values are used (for example between the spagna and the france). during the 1668 mm and 1435 mm waste development process, the company was required to verify that the requirements of the uic 518 standard were met (this standard describes the parameters of tests and acceptance of railway vehicles from the point of view of dynamic behaviour, safety, fatigue and march behaviour).
This investigation, conducted using adams and vi-rail, focused on the entire system formed by a locomotor, a series of wagons and the variable discard system. thanks to the technology of the templates available in adams and vi-rail it was also possible to create a database of typical models used in talgo, including carts with motor, carriages and trolleys with passive tilting system. the results obtained from dynamic analysis, relative to comfort and safety, are consistent with the tilting data in the curve, with the lateral and vertical accelerations on the case, with the contact forces and the driving system.
“The simulation allowed us to accurately predict the side forces of contacts and derailing coefficients prescribed by Uic 518 and therefore to comply with this rule,” said emilio garcia, head of research and development in talgo. “Since those values are very sensitive to marching behaviour, it was essential to shape the marching system in detail with adams and vi-rail.”
“We are really proud that talgo has decided to step up its technological partnership with msc.software by selecting our flexible licensing system and using adams for the simulation of their high-speed trains,” said kais bouchiba, senior vice-president for the emea area. “We are sure that msc’s cae solutions will help talgo achieve safety and quality objectives and accelerate technological innovation. ”
enterprise advantage license unit (ealu) is a flexible system of parallel licenses provided by msc.software. ealu allows access to the entire portfolio of msc solutions through a licensing pool. at the heart of the ealu system there is md nastran. it is also possible to access products such as msc nastran, patran, marc, md adams, dytran and easy5. md nastran integrates the technology of msc nastran, marc, dytran and ls-dyna within an integrated multi-disciplinary platform that provides linear, implicit and explicit solutions within a single solutor.
talgofounded in 1942, licensees talgo (talgo) develops three business areas: design and production of high-speed trains, at high speed, long-range, intercity and locomotives; production of equipment for maintenance; and maintenance services for railway operators worldwide. its technology and innovation allows it to reach high levels of quality, reliability, safety and environmental respect in its products, always standing at the forefront of railway technology. the company has its headquarters in Spain, as well as 2 production sites and 5 maintenance areas. talgo also has a presence in countries such as use, germany, erzegovina bosnia, Kazakhstan and ezbekistan.
