Hello designers,
I throw out an auction from his seat and the roote.
What kind of sensor would you recommend me to stick in the shaft's butt to know how much I went out and how many degrees I turned?
for the rotation I thought, since now they cost very little, to a gyroscopic sensor...but I miss the sensor that measures me a length.
I could do it with a laser pointing on a fixed point....but if we raised the cost of the two sensors... I'll go out the cost of the current solution.

I thought of a sensor, because currently the mechanical solution with two sensors recently, are expensive because of all the leverisms, the pieces to manufacture, treat and mount.

ideas?
I know that without seeing the project, it becomes difficult, but you are allowed to shoot whatever idea comes to you to get this two information.

You could use a trelectronic type magnetic linear sensor and possibly an encoder to read the rotation. there are many types and costs and dimensions
