the conference, whose motto is “a new era begins”, will be held in irvine in California on 7 and 8 May. will be the first of a series of conferences that will be held in 20 different countries in spring and summer.
chamitoff has worked on the nasa since 1995 and has contributed to space projects, before that date, as a student of the mit. accumulated more than 198 days in space during several nasa missions. While working on his doctoral thesis, chamitoff performed stability analysis on the hubble space telescope, designed space shuttle flight control updates and developed software for space station control systems. after being hired by the nasa, chamitoff was head of the development of the software dedicated to monitoring, analysis and operation of the control of the spaceship.
in 2008, chamitoff was a flight engineer and scientific officer during a mission on board the international space station lasting 6 months. in 2011, chamitoff was a mission specialist during the last flight of space shuttle buses and also participated in the last walk in space of the space shuttle program.
