3dconnexion products are able to offer the best interactivity in real time when modeling a 3d object or navigating in 3d environment while the cad renders locally (can also be a browser). if instead the work is done on a remote server and displayed in a client, often you do not have the ideal conditions, due to inevitable complications of the infrastructure, such as the complaints.

this despite the vdi are evolving year after year as well as the powerful software that manage it. In this period, however, smart working must be adapted to use emergency solutions.

1. open the start menu on your computer and search for rdp

2. then "remote desktop connection"

3. Click Show Options from the window that appears

4. go to the "local resources" tab

5. select more ... located in the section "local resources and devices"

6. select “other plug and play devices (pnp) support” and “other supported usb remotefx devices” (see below)
7. connect spacemouse and try to access the workstation.

with remotefx, the connection should be automatically detected. Otherwise, there may be an option at the top of the remote session to enable the usb passthrough.

vmware and citrix are the best brands to manage vdi but it is not trivial to configure them best to use spacemouses. here I bring some forums even if it should be seen case by case:

I wanted to ask if someone, like me, at this time does a day in the company and a day at home...can you find a faster system to use it remotely?
I have a spacemouse pro wireless and on my pcs, both with win10 pro, do not appear the 2 words "plug and play" and "remot fx usb".
I read about forum 3dconnexion.com this discussion link and seems valid software virtualhere , free to share 1 usb (from 2 to pay) any experience about it? What do you say?

Good morning. we say this could be one of the worst configurations to use a spacemouse with a vdi: mac os that from little flexibility + anydesk, an undesigned remoteization software for cad. from a blog: as of now hardware forwarding is not possible, through anydesk. not being able to redirect a usb remotely I fear it is impossible to use a spacemouse (perhaps some additional program, not too cheap, could allow it). I do not exclude that in this period of pandemic and smart working an ad hoc solution is not developing...

both spacenavigator and spacepilot pro use the same driver and sensor technology is almost similar. the spacepilot pro has an additional plug-in that allows you to control the screen and surely consumes more current: I don't want there to be any limitation/energy redistribution on the usb port redirection. or maybe it's just bad the spacepilot pro... for these specific cases I recommend to directly feel 3dconnexion assistance: https://3dconnexion.com/it/support/

thanks to the ready feedback, I verify with colleagues who are dealing with the vdi, the spacepilot pro until I used it locally was fine, the only mistake that gives me is "discontinued device" in the screen "3d connexion properties" that sends me to a page of the site nonexistent

seems to have managed to solve the problem of the spacepilot pro with the vdi vmware horizon, buying a usb type a --> type c
https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/b0823jhcqj/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=utf8&psc=1 I connected it this morning and so far it didn't bother me, when first after a few minutes it disconnected and still didn't keep the zoom and rotation settings.

at present, 3dxware 10.8.11 drivers, which support these devices
( cadmouse, cadmouse compact, cadmouse compact wireless, cadmouse pro, cadmouse pro wireless, cadmouse pro wireless left, cadmouse wireless ) must be installed both on the vm and on the client system (the drives must always be the same version between host and client ).

done this, there are a set of settings to set on the client and remote operating system (Vm ); In this case I refer to w10 and through the gpedit.msc tool (executable by typing it in the built-in windows search tool ) it is necessary to do the following (I use w10 in English ):

made this restart both systems.
connect the device (by cable; wirelessly does not work ) and launch the 'classic' (integrated w10 and not the remote desktop app with the red icon to interci, as it does not work ).
in the 'local resource' tab in the local device and resource group, clicking on more, the line called 'other supported remotefx usb device' is visible
expand it and check the usb input device (if you have correctly connected the device to the vs system, you will appear the same name of the device ).

all very nice and tested personally, on azure platform.
But there is a problem: At enterprise level, the new remote desktop client (the one with the red icon downloadable even from the ms store ) is taking place.
the problem is that the above, does not seem to give positive results using this application.

I'm investigating to see if it's just a 'mancancy' of the app, drivers or if there are specific and additional settings to implement in the so to run the device also through this app.
If I find anything, I'll update the post.
