Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group Celebrates 10th Anniversary – DailyCADCAM

ANN ARBOR, MI, USA, Feb 28, 2024 — The Aerospace & Defense (A&D) PLM Action Group proudly announces its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of collaborative excellence in addressing the key Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) challenges within the A&D sector.

The A&D PLM Action Group was established in 2014 with founding members Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Gulfstream. The Group, administered by CIMdata, has played a pivotal role in identifying and addressing common PLM-related pain points affecting aircraft manufacturers, major defense OEMs, and Tier 1 suppliers.

Over the past decade, the Group has added GE Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, Safran, and Spirit AeroSystems to its membership. It has spearheaded research initiatives on various industry and technology topics. These topics encompass a range of member-identified priorities, including Model-Based Definition, Multiple View Bill of Materials, PLM Technology Obsolescence Management, Global Collaboration, Model-Based Systems Engineering, and Digital Twin/Digital Thread. The Group recently sponsored research in collaboration with five leading PLM solution providers on the topic of the digital thread.

James Roche, CIMdata’s A&D Practice Director, commented, “Since its founding, the Group’s mission has remained steadfast, with the objectives of its members maturing year over year.” He continued, “A basic principle of the Group is collaboration with solution providers as colleagues on a common journey. Examples include a benchmark that validated the multi-view BoM capability of commercial technology, cooperation in developing an open service web app, and collaboration on industry research.”

In line with its commitment to knowledge sharing and industry advancement, the A&D PLM Action Group has developed a series of direction statements, position papers, and research reports – all available for download on its website at www.ad-pag.com.
