PTC is once again betting on generative AI, announcing a new synergy with Microsoft and the Volkswagen Group to launch Codebeamer Copilot an Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool powered by artificial intelligence capabilities.
The goal is to simplify the writing and management of software requirements in product development projects, especially in the context of software-defined vehicles.
Origins of the project and role of Volkswagen
The new AI co-pilot arises directly from the adoption of Codebeamer within the Volkswagen Group, which has chosen the PTC platform to improve the efficiency of software production in the various brands of the automotive group. The partnership with Microsoft allows you to integrate technology Azure AIbringing generative AI into Codebeamer and ensuring even more accurate requirements management.
“The integration of Microsoft Azure AI into Codebeamer will enable the generation of new specifications and test cases,” underlines Robert KattnerHead of IT Engineering at the Volkswagen Group, explaining that the system will help detect duplicates, check their quality and manage import processes from older IT systems. “Engineers will then be able to work more quickly and efficiently.”
PTC and the push towards industrial AI
The choice to focus on generative AI is part of PTC’s strategy to offer highly innovative solutions for the manufacturing sector. He is convinced of it Kevin Wrenn Chief Product Officer at PTC:
“We think generative AI can help customers seize market opportunities, especially in the context of software-defined vehicles. On the one hand, the collaboration with Volkswagen provides us with concrete examples of industrial application; on the other, Microsoft allows us to push generative AI beyond the limits, so as to create a truly cutting-edge product.”
Microsoft: Generative AI and industrial manufacturing
Microsoft also confirms the potential of Codebeamer Copilot to revolutionize development processes. Second Dayan RodriguezCorporate Vice President Manufacturing & Mobility at Microsoft:
“The manufacturing sector offers numerous opportunities for generative AI. We are pleased to support the collaboration between PTC and the Volkswagen Group, because Codebeamer Copilot clearly shows how AI can simplify a complex process like product design.”
Beta launching in 2025
The debut of Codebeamer Copilot in beta version is scheduled for the beginning of 2025 and will involve a selected number of PTC customers, who will have the opportunity to preview a solution that promises to revolutionize the management of software requirements in an AI perspective.
