hello to all, I would like to install solid works on my laptop that has as operating system linux ubuntu 10.10. , did anyone do it or do you know if you can do it?

First of all, good morning we see my little one I can help you. First of all a version of solidworks for linux does not exist at least it seems to me. to install the software to use a virtual machine i.e. in poor words, you need to virtualize the microsoft home operating system under linux.... but for more detailed and more precise explanations the gurus who are in this forum, very experienced and very helpful people. . .

The highway is linux, swx la f1 and the carriage is vm.
you can never go on the road with the f1 on the truck and claim to have the same performance as on the track. If the truck passes us...
On the other hand, the rent of the track will cost you more, but you'll get what you expect.

oldwarper is right, I did not mention this detail because it seemed trivial punctuality since it is discounted as what.... in all ways in my opinion seen the spread of open source operating systems the software houses should at least follow a little that way.. This is my opinion as an ignorant person though....

programs aren't as "portable" as you think. Many bees on which cad programs are supported are developed only for windows, while alternatives must be adopted for opensource s.o.
So in the end we have to develop 2 independent versions of the program, of which one goes on the vast majority of systems and one on a small slice of market.
As development costs are comparable, it involves doubling or little less the cost of a version.
in this climate of crisis, "saves" and "cuts", how many possibilities are there that in order to satisfy a community also sensitive of users double the production costs of a sw? it is first to "impose" a s.o., that however is sold juggling along with the pc for clear commercial agreements and whose cost is already indissoluble part of the machine and that therefore is already "imposed2 at the origin.
We don't go back on the subject, but we've gone out several times and for (almost) all the cads.
