Do you have any advice to help me in the transition?
can you install a trial version on mac os x?

argument already debated in other posts, I got to make training to users who, like you, did the passage. my advice is to make 'tabula rasa' of the methods and philosophy of sw and start from scratch with some straight from users navigated.
I hope that where you go they'll get you training.
As for the last question from what I know (and I know...) there was a trial version (three months) of nx 11 manufactoring (with all the modeling functions, drafting, assembly) but I couldn't find it. I don't remember if your os was supported.

It is not a criticism specifically addressed to nx, but comparing mid ranges in general (swx, se , inventor...) with cad tops (catia, nx, and creo) leads to these considerations, unless you use that 10% that can only do cad top ranges.
from what I heard nx is the least hostical besides.
as said you must hope that where you go they want to invest in courses.
