What do you think of refurbished graphics cards?

for what I understand is used and refurbished cards, often sold at prices below 50% of the initial value and guaranteed for 12 months.
on the net are offers that look like real occasions, then I wonder, why buy a new graphics card if these are so convenient?

Have you ever purchased such products?
what is their story (register of my friend, fallen from the truck, km zero, ..) or how does this world work?
how reliable are they usually?
What is the risk in case they don't have to work properly or long?

I mean, what is there to know about this subject? :

their past can be multiple. if you like it are used cards of companies that have gone to an updated hardware, and all right. if you go wrong they were used to "mine" cryptovalutes, and there it means they were exploited to the marrow and they are practically useless. We say it's a lot tern, and it's a world from which I'd be away as a company.
and between not much the same thing will happen with the hard drives.

a time to work with cad 3d needed well-carved and expensive pcs. today "normal" performance has become much more affordable. for this reason I think it is better to take a new lower end hardware, rather than one of the top band used. consider that, every new range of video cards there is a leap of performance of about one band. So in the end, the savings are very thin. since there is win 10 I am having great satisfactions from a gaming pc. It cost me half of a workstation and it's the fastest pc I find myself. in this case you take a risk and might go wrong, the certified hardware is always the best choice.

can you say how it is composed, for which version sw uses it and what do you have +/- spent? :

... maybe I took another glare .. I always thought that the graphics card should be certified by swx .. you instead make me doubt that, probably, the hardware card should be certified for the hardware in which it should be mounted (=pc)? :
in case, is there any way to verify certification/compatibility or find out only when I mount it?
(in my case we talk about nvidia picture m4000)

it is a desktop computer asus with i7-6700, ge force 980 ti 6 gb - 32 gb ram - ssd m.2. despite having a few years it's very good. I am using it with 2019, but also with 2018 - 2016 was very good.

vga is not certified and if you run into graphic issues it is difficult to solve, you have to go to attempts and without support. this has always gone well, as well as 2 other portable asus with geforce or a microsoft surface I have. you have no realview, but for the rest it is fast and reliable. cost 1,700/1800 euro VAT.

the "m" series of nvidia picture had several driver problems, at least in the initial phase.

hi, received and mounted, in the case I must correct my model is picture k4000 - 3gb (not m), after the reboot win10 recognized it and I let it find the drivers independently,
open swx16 I was disappointed, I can't notice differences with the previous fx1800 756mb,
(fx1800 vs k4000) https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/compare/nvidia-quadro-k4000-vs-nvidia-quadro-fx-1800/m7730vsm7957 ) I also respond to graphic problemucci (e.g. when I insert a part together, I do not see the part until I see the view ..), especially the disappointment lies in the fact that the speed of movement and rotation seen in axiemi grandini seems the same (while I hoped that at the triple of the ram would increase also the fluidity and speed of movement and coupling).

1) Maybe I should manually install a different driver? (https://www.nvidia.it/download/driverresults.aspx/175236/it)
2) how can I measure whether my k4000 works correctly or is "oldened"? Is there a way to benchmark? How?
3) Should I change some parameters in swx?
4) other tips?

Yes, install the nvidia driver that is better. I use k4000 on win 10 and goes discreetly m not to tear off the hair. However in any case we talk about obsolete cards, which were optimized for win7.

I would have found the drivers 443.66 and 462.59, what do you have? What advice?
I put those that result from the nvidia site after completing the drop down menus for my graphics skehda and my operating system.

what beautiful, after installing the new drivers, can we do a speed kit for comparison? :
How can you do the garnish? :unsures:
It would make no sense, too many different variables.

Those tests are not reliable, at the limit you have to do the "solidworks performance test" and compare the 2 tests made with fx 1800 and k4000.
If you want to jump on palpable performance, you have to take a new pc with all the latest technologies. eye however... solidworks 2016 begins to become very obsolete and definitely not optimized for latest generation pcs.

I bought in 10/2018 a gtx1070 refurbished from a miner, I made overclocking and I'm still using it forcefully for videogames and applications. a personal experience obviously does not make statistics

@re_solidworks Would you give me your opinion?
which the ideal machine to take advantage of the best sw2016 (and possibly thinking remotely about a possible as unlikely passage to sw202.. ? ?

==>aiuto scelta workstation per sw16 su win10
hi reggio, with sw 2016 you are a little back and the steps ahead that have been made in some specific areas are not exploitable. I think, for example, to the greater exploitation of the vga instead of the gpu. each version integrates something new in this sense and the more you are back, the worse it is, at least with the latest generation pcs. For this reason, a brand new machine would give, perhaps, good performance but not exceptional. the ideal machine I don't know... I use various locations and with 2016, but I no longer have a spare so frequent that I can give excellent advice. try to take cpu with so much power on the single process and when you have 4/6 cores suffice and advance. better few with so much frequency that many at lower frequency. take at least 16 gb of ram (I have all machines at 32). I'd be on nvidia and the cooler you get, the better.

is not a bit expensive considering that with 350 € you buy a new p1000?
right observation.... there are several generations of vga in the middle and looking at the passmark results, the picture k4000 realizes 2700 points, the p1000 makes 4460.

I see that you all recommend nvidia and I have found myself well in the past but in recent years I have some amds in my ws and I must say that I have never had big problems.
compared to nvidia you save a little something.
