sò that it is 1 super treated topic but still I did not find 1 answer also because my problem is the reverse one that I have 1 design of 3d autocad to import in solid edge part, I would like to know if you can import and to make it open in 3d with solid edge and especially if once opened it is possible to change it. . .
possibly there are solid edge plugins that really work because I tried the trial product of the sycode "dwg import to solid edge" but when the amount comes even half the surfaces that have the original design
I hope in a vs answer
Thank you.

Export from autocad in iges or step, to change it you can definitely more easily with the st version, or traditionally, with some extra passage.

Bye.

try to save from autocad in acis format (*.sat) and then import that in itself. I never tried, though.

then exporting to .sat => acis I can open it in part but I can not change them because it considers bodyfeature1, while if possible I would like to understand well what is the st version is always solid edge? the full name of the program x a possible search + in-depth on the internet? and what changes from version 20?

normal, it happens with all interchange formats.

search for "synchronous technology", however if you have a classic version or maybe even foundation, you can use the direct modeling commands with which you can change the imported solids.

I searched for synchronous technology and found the simens video and that's exactly what it would do to my case, but the exact name of the program how can I look for it? and then where can I find the direct modeling since I have if 20 full license version?
Thanks again

The program is called solid edge st, but if you call your salesman, he'll be happy to give you all the information you need. otherwise just do a search in archive on this forum.

for direct modeling, see attachment.

hi I have the same problem I created a plane with the surfaces, then I passed it to a person to fix it and make additions.he doesn't use solid edge , he fixed everything and gave me the iges file.
Now I see it but how can I do to change it and make it solid?when I try to give it the thickness to change it tells me body not manifold.I use v20. is it true that with the if you see the whole building tree even if done with other programs?

Thank you very much

recreating solids from surfaces is a strain, see if it can provide you with the files in some other format that can be imported as solid.
the error of type "non manifold" means (more or less, I explain it to you to spans) than in an attempt to create a solid with an extrusion or a boolean operation, for example, you find yourself creating an entity not manageable by the software, like two cubes with a common edge or a cylinder tangent to a parallelepipedo, solidedge (but also other sw accepts like i-deas) and no error.
instead in relation to st, as far as I understand, it is not true that it matters the "history" from solids coming from files like acis or parasolid, but it makes available tools to work, in a simple and intuitive way (it says anyone who tried it :biggrin:) directly on geometry; in truth there is also a tool called "feature recognizer" that attempts to reconstruct the "history", but with often disappointing results.
Bye.
