hi to all for the drafting of a project report I would like to insert some images regarding free body diagrams and stress characteristics of a beam avoiding to report the same that I solved and made by hand.
reading in the forum someone recommends ftool (2d) but I would prefer some 3d alternative as it could be lesm.
do other software exist?

ftool I use it often.
lesm didn't know him....but why is the ft symbol of ftool and the logo of lesm?
is developed by the same people?
I'll follow all the documentation for a three-dimensional beam calculator.
using solidworks simulation you can give the reaction values to the constraints and do some things. definitely it is advisable to use both tools because they have different potentials, different assumptions.

I know that it is slightly off-topic, but rather than ftool much better "frame 2d" that also performs modal and buckling analysis ( providing critical multiplier and beta).
Moreover if you download the package "profiles" (which I find very useful also stand alone) you also integrate a catalog profiles.
with regard to a 3d version, if you have few needs of nodes (maximum 150) and non-linearity, you can use prosap, which is a complete software (I use for professional reasons the paid version) and also performs profile verifications with ntc and ec.
It also creates the relationship automatically.
if you find yourself well you can also think of a rental purchase (it is very competitive).

I tried lesm for the first time today and I'd say that compared to ftool, he let me down a bit. I expected all ftool outputs including the arrow at every maximum point... something that is not there. However it is good to calculate internal stresses in 3d frames.
I don't think I've lost any command.
