I own both the license of catia v5 and the license of autodesk inventor 2009 and would like to know if you can convert a .igs file created with catia in a 3d file format .dwg readable with inventor.

I make an example of the procedure I use.
I open with inventor the .igs file saved with catia (it turns out to have all the yellow surfaces), I press the icon (join surfaces) but, in case I have to combine more pieces that for example have inside them soft or details a little more complex, in place to close the surfaces and then make me turn out my final piece of color (white) leaves me the surfaces as they were giving me an error which I am not telling me that the contact.
If the file is closed, I go to the menu bar and press the drop down menu: applications, aec file exchange; once pressed aec file exchange gives me the opportunity to save my 3d dwg file format.
Could you help me and please tell me the fastest solution to convert these .igs file format to 3d dwg format? Is my procedure correct?

Thank you

try changing iges file conversion parameters into tools\general\options\compatibility\iges in the export section verify that the export option is solid\superfici (this is valid if the file you convert is also with solid geometry).
if then your iges file is generated by a set, verify that in the import parameters of inventor for the iges file, there is the reconstruction of the assemblies.
with these two verifications you should be able to obtain properly reconstructed geometries as a whole and as solid geometries within inventor.
if instead your iges file comes from a catia file type modeled in multibody, you must proceed to export the individual files and rebuild the axieme in inventor.

I hope you have some help.
