install salome on ubuntu 11 February

Bye to all,

I am not a linux user and so I have problems using the operating system.
I created a 64-bit virtual ubuntu 11.04 machine.

I would like to install meca salome, I downloaded the file salome-v6_5_0-lgpl-x86_64.run, but now I don't know what I should do: I don't know what commands to launch, where to launch them etc.

Is there any good soul that can help me?

The file you need to download is this:
http://www.code-aster.org/fichiers/salome-meca-2012.2-lgpl.tgzonce downloaded and decompressed, you must:

1) enter the directory from a terminal:

user@ubuntu cd /home/user/discharged/salome-meca-2012.2-lgpl

2) run postinstall.sh:

user@ubuntu ./postinstall.sh

3) cross your fingers and throw salome-meca:

user@ubuntu ./runsalomeca

commands could be slightly different, I'm going to memory.

point 2 should only be performed the first time, the next time should no longer be necessary.
for more info you should follow the code-aster forum, which is very popular.

Yes but if I'm not mistaken then you don't have the fem solutor, but only the pre and post processor.

to me the fem solutor does not care as I would use it for saturn code as pre and post processor. excuse ignorance, these repositories where they are? how do you start managing packages? Is this about the drunk center?
