Hello everyone, I am an engineering student who lacks few exams including the infamous machine construction examination. for this purpose the use of a manual for the written test is allowed. I wanted to ask you which of the two recommended and why, seeing also that as price they are practically comparable.
having taken a look at the flight to the manual of hoepli mechanics or seen that there are a few topics missing, such as the fatigue treated a bit superficially since the criterion of gough-pollard is missing, but also on the boltory is very synthetic compared to what I would need. thanks to all

then the question is between the cremonese (black more blue) or manual hoepli of the engineer (red cover in leather).
I have both of them, bought more than 20 years ago. both with errors in formulas. cremonese very dispersive and the same topic treats it in 5 different chapters but at the end does not conclude.
hoepli is more aimed at consultation for design. Cremonese is a bit of everything and nothing.
personally the cremonese if it remained such I would not use it just.
over the years I left them both and I use niemann 3 volumes.... there is serious stuff

Cremonese has released a new version last year and an older 7/8 years ago (with green cover :) so I think it has improved. as said reading the various indices seems that the cremonese is more complete than the manual of hoepli mechanics that is not the manual of the mechanical engineer indicated by you

niemann is definitely the most modern and complete, but I ask: could you bring all three volumes during the written test?

I confirm. Cremonese not recommended. hoepli is perhaps more for higher (even if I have to say well done). niemann with low hands. you can also consult shigley and juvinall.

erm no, and then also as costs costs costs twice as much as the other two, so I wanted to take one of the two indicated in the title

are new versions of cremonese not good? Those 3 books I consulted them for the study but I didn't buy them
I needed something complete enough to use especially during the written test of construction of machines

However for the caligaris definitely the second edition with red cover, the one with white cover has several errors then corrected, at least for the arguments that I was interested at the moment.

I have the old cremonese manual of the industrial expert, edition of the 80s, with purple cover. I would say that as it is a general manual, which treats both mechanics, and electrotechnics, that thermotechnical... is quite generic and has always served me little, or at nothing in the work. I only care because it's a nice old book, with very thin pages that look like the bible.

the problem is that both cremonese, and calligaris are manuals for experts, so you will never find fatigue.

at this point I would recommend you to buy (it is only 20 hours more) directly the manual of the mechanical engineer, always of the hoepli.
At least you find it for the state exam is for prodiction

I had the cremonese for the peritum (inherited by my brother), while some of my companions at the time hoepli.
I must say that the first is too vague, to find information I was crying in ancient languages. Hoepli is much more immediate.
Clearly niemann is all about another level.
if the construction examination is of the three-year degree (second year I think), paradoxically, the expert manual is enough and advances. I remember that I passed with 28 to the Milan pole with the notions learned in three years of superior. That said, I advise niemann at least is in place for the future. do not look at the cost, unless you win the lot and do not work for the rest of your life, it is an investment for yourself. classical mechanics does not change.
