old hp 8770 more performing than the new 5540?

Good morning to all,

I've been reading you for years and I've found a lot of interesting help and ideas for what I had to do.

I never signed up until today.

But now I feel the need to feel your opinion as there is something wrong with my car.
work with catia v5 r20/r21

from 7 years to this part I used a hp8770w, i7 3630, 8gb ram, frame k3000m from 2gb, mechanical hd and I always found myself very well and the machine still works well in managing together of 1000+ complex components.

But now in the company I have replaced the pc with a precision 5540, i9-9880h, 32gb ram, picture t2000 4gb and hd ssd.

I was alluded, although on paper there is no history, the dell is tremendously much slower with caia if compared to the old hp and I can't explain why.

the things that I have come to mind are:
- new drivers are not optimized for such an old cad
- the new pc has such a small house that always works castrated otherwise it would melt

I also saw that hp only had picture video card, while the dell has two cards, the integral always active and the picture is used only as an acceleration card.

What do you think? Did I miss something in the settings? I put virtually everywhere maximum performance.

good morning lomber and welcome on cad3d, giving a distance response is not at all easy but I will try to report you a couple of points according to my experience.
1) when I buy a new pc pile everything and reinstall everything from zero
2) Business pcs sometimes have a lot of restrictions to access the corporate network that sometimes wipe the pc.
3) ensure that vga and cpu work to the maximum and have inactive energy savings.
4) to make an example my of the m6800 sometimes needs a reboot to make the option energy saving set to the max...this situation occurred after the last update of windows if I do not reboot the cpu works me at 2.3ghz against the 3.7ghz routine.
5) verify by task managers and with vga and cpu tools that frequencies are correct
6) verify the temperature of the ssd.
I hope I gave you some useful point.

I agree even if sometimes there are opposite situations as in the case of the fixed mo where win 10 lowered the temperatures of the cpu and accelerated the boot.

I removed the limitation is the situation is slightly improved, however much lower than the old pc.

I, as an ignorant, would never have taken a laptop from cad pushed without the numeric keypad.... for me, when there is, it is a product indicator that should not compromise...the of 5540 will probably be convenient to carry around, but if you use it mainly in the office, I would like a pc that will not make me waste time waiting for its paturnies. . .

Yes I at work have 17 and use it with keyboard usb. but at home I have a 15 that has the keypad; So it is not that in a 15 there is no... Anyway, I wrote it... I speak as ignorant, but I consider a laptop with the most complete keyboard. I don't want to stick the knife in the plague... but who recommended you buy an ultra slim ws like 5540? Why not the 7000 series plus "kick" like 7740?

other unworthy is the docking station...
is a simple usb-c that transmits signals and power. to have 60hz on the external monitor I am forced to connect also hdmi (otherwise I go to 30hz with the mouse that flicker!), so you lose the convenience of the docking that with a connection do everything.

Agreed for 15" ...but there is version 7000 that is more "ciccia" (better cooled)

But putroppo I didn't know, I don't follow all models very much. mea culpa that I only looked at the quality of components at an absolute level and not related to assembly.. .

but also of the though! is pure marketing move to make a pc so pumped that then it does not work!!!!!! with much less expensive components performance would not have changed anything!! !

just add that it is a question that is worth for the vast majority of manufacturers, try to see how they choke the painting 5000...that alone costs like a basic ws
