hello to all.... arrival from an experience of 9 years with i-deas and 2 with nx5....
from a couple of months I use think3 having changed company, but they plan to change 3d wanting to switch to solidworks .... Does anyone already have a similar experience ? unfortunately I find think3 a little poor compared to nx5 ...
Could solidworks be a good alternative?

hi giampax of sure solidworks is a great program but give you directions without even knowing that I use doresti farms would not be the maximum. So maybe if you leave indication on what you should then model we could give you a better advice.

I make small electric forklift trucks.... mechanics is very simple ... little hydraulic and some electronics.... for most surface modeling considering that the product is composed of many external hulls that must be in line with a good design

solidworks is a good cad also at surface level, but it is certainly not at the level of nx, cad or proe in this field. there are people who can do everything and find many examples on the internet.
I attach you two pictures of scoobyworks that I found on the internet, as you see you do everything, but it takes some handle.

I do not intervene on other aspects but, the price differences between pro/e and swx are no longer those of once.
If the foundation is enough to you (you do a lot of things) it has a big way the same price.
once pro/e had very different packages and licenses cost 5 times the prices of the current foundation.

I think your problem is to understand what is enough. If you need class surfaces to choose is obligatory towards a big which proe, idem if you want scalability to a system that can tomorrow support this functionality.
if class is not interested and the tools of swx surfaces are enough you can also buy swx.
There is to say: how does a user understand what is enough if he has never seen/used a tool? I don't know if I could. I am used to manage different issues and to exploit the potential of the software other than those necessary to that realization.

One thing I didn't understand: has the choice been made or is it still all at stake?
