I bought 16 gb of rams to replace the original 8 mounted, of the compatible type according to the crucial site.

after installing windows it does not start anymore, i.e. try it but then the pc turns off and restarts. this happens both in normal and temporary mode, and restoration.

if I start with linux (it is a dual boot) everything works and the 16 gb are normally seen from the system, so it should not be a compatibility problem.

What can I do?

windows is the 7-x64.

at what speed do rams turn?
try to lower the frequency and play with latencies.
I had a similar problem with desktop rams certified at 3000 mhz but more than 2800 did not want to know how to go.

faccio dal bios?

yes
Now I don't know that laptop and that bios well, if there is the possibility to adjust the supply voltage of the rams raise a wire, more tension usually allows greater stability.
Okay, thank you, as soon as I'm trying.

However remittaching the original ram resumed to work normally. Who knows why linux is less sketchy than windows.

Nothing to do, the bios does not offer any options. According to crucial.com ram is compatible with my system, although it goes to 1.35v while it seems that the trip to 1.5. at this point or is wrong the crucial site or is a Chinese taroccato product.

I have recently updated the memory of the server, installing two more benches to bring it from 16 to 32 gb and I had the same problem. I solved by updating the bios, doing this the system works perfectly. I know it's a pretty remote possibility, but I think it's the first thing to do if possible.

pi
I can't give a technical answer, I just take a logical consideration.
if with linux there is no problem, it can not be a matter of compatibility pc / bios / ram.
How many rams do you see?
later control, however also crashes the autodiagnosis system of the motherboard.

p.s. bios is the last released for this model of pc.

hi hunter and good Christmas to all, what model of precision is specifically?
If you want to understand where the hippo is, you have to spray ram datasheets already installed with what you bought.... in any case if it is not compatible, report the thing to crucial Italian and ask for a refund.

I would have no doubt!!
;-)
I'm supposed to be on mac now, but in the past I've seen something like that and put on bios. It's weird that you won't let yourself in.

I can get in, but there's no parameter to work on.

of the precision m4500 quad-core (the question of the quad-core is important regarding the maximum manageable ram, 16 for the quad and 8 for the dual).

This is the original ram.1608976870993.pngI think it's just a power voltage problem, because what I bought is 1.35 V ( https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/precision-m4500-(quad-core)#memory )

strange that all the sites I have seen give the crucial 8gb compatible and instead are not.

I found these https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...vaw0wt8x5lwgtrikldbkuqveo&cshid=1609006879748actually changes the voltage with the crucial ones.

normally it is worth the opposite, you can not send memoirs that are born at 1.5 at the lower voltage of 1.35. but if you raise the voltage to the memories, as your motherboard goes to 1.5 is as if you do an overclock, which normally you do if you want to pull out some extra mhz from the memories. So it makes me weird that the problem is the voltage. Obviously if the voltage rises too, the memories can burn, but normally it is the low voltage that blocks the pc, not the high one.
Have you tried to start your laptop with a single desk? Did you update the bios?

Thinking about it a while ago I gave rams to my compass removed from my hp with frequency 1600 mhz cl 11 1.35v mounted on your 3700 same chipset of the precision m4500 these rams were not recognized and the pc did not start... I know that the problem is analogous.

What's very strange is that linux works. When I had memory problems, normally I'm at bios level I don't know.
I would tell you to download memtest https://www.memtest86.com/ and turn a complete check of the ram. if part linux also leaves memtest.
If the test does not find any problems, then there is a compatibility at the level of know that maybe solve with a reinstallation, otherwise memtest should give you some indication.
