Hello everyone,
I haven't been in the forum for study reasons. but now I need (again once) your help. In the meantime I wanted to do all good year greetings even if a little late in hope that it can be as happy and serene as possible! but now we come to my problem:
last year I had downloaded the st6 version of solid edge with academic license of the validity of 1 year and all regular. because now I need a new license, on the siemens site I found a guide to "extend" the academic license of last year, and so I followed the proxy I downloaded the full version of solid edge st7..I installed it. I entered the code of the new license sent me via email and started the software..al which started the problems!! or as soon as I try to create a new part model or to open a file created previously with st6, and instantly or after a few minutes the software crashes darkening the screen, and after a few seconds I get an error message that sends me to this page:
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3007I now stock a video card nvidia gtx 580 with 1.5 gb dedicated and 8 gb of ram at 1600 mhz with processor i7 2600k, which is not bad as pc even if old of a couple of years, but I do not understand why with solid edge st6 everything went smooth as the oil and instead with the new version crashes continuously. . .I also add that 2 weeks ago about I updated the firmware of the video card to 347.09, and already after the first uses of st7 I noticed that unlike the previous version, the images were more "catching".

I hope therefore that my information along with your experience will certainly broader than mine can find a solution to the problem.

Thank you all in advance!

go to the options of solid edge, tab view and uncheck "auto Selection" for the field "display application", at this point you activate the drop down list and select "graphic card (direct 3d)".

Geforce range tabs are not optimized for use of opengl libraries and maybe there are some bugs in their management.

Let me know if you do this.

Hi.

hello be_on_edge, thank you in the meantime for the answer. I modified how you illustrated the solid edge settings by setting them on "direct 3d" and actually the problem seems to have scrambled..but not entirely! or after a while I feel a slight "chick" coming from the video card (which I felt even before) and the screen is darkened for 2 seconds..poi returns everything normal, and after that happens the bottom bar of windows goes and comes to pleasure according to the windows I open. I just can't figure out what the hell they've changed from st6 to st7 to create all these troubles --

Try reinstalling the drivers, maybe try the previous ones too.

Hi.

Great! as suggested by you, reinstalling the video card drivers the problem seems to have resolved for the moment. Thanks again for the help;)

Since there are some use to ask for a little help regarding the "bluesurf" command of solid edge: I created a full model consisting of a large upper oval and a small lower and I joined them (like a full rounded sink to make the idea), but the shape even if it is not clear is not important..What I can't do is change it! In the sense, once created, I can't for example drill it, to apply it the command "thin walls", to create excavations etc...in addition, being bluesurf, has a blue-violet color instead of gray. so how should I be able to "transform" it into a normal body on which to apply any command as a normal protusion?

if it is purple is a surface and not a body,
the commands you can use are in the surface board,
you can create various surfaces that delimit a solid, so there is a command to create a solid by selecting the closed surfaces that make up it.
oppurte you can use on the surface the add thickness command to immediately have a uniform thick body, then continue with the usual features for solids.
