sw 2019: open inventor files without importing them

Hello everyone,
when they sold me sw2019; I was "judged" that I can open the native files of other programs, for example inventor (.ipt .iam) without any import, keeping only the original file.....
but it doesn't seem to me to work like this, conversion is made directly from ipt or iam without going through a step, and creates a new sw file
Can you confirm it or there's a way to maintain, how did they promise me, just the inventor file?

if you open a set step you can see its structure, but you can't open parts and subaxes in it. you cannot make changes to the file, as provided by the system with active 3dinterconnect. In my opinion, they should change the 3dinterconnect working mode and make the user choose which import formats to manage with this mode and which not.
