Good morning.
I need help, I have stl files in catia and I should turn them into cat part.
Does anyone know how to help me?
Thanks :)

Hi, you want to reverse engineering and it's not a simple and trivial thing. . .

copy and take off my previous answer

with catia it is possible to convert the stl file, but you have to have a module that I think is called typize shape editor and with the import command select the stl file and it amounts; then with the quick surface reconstruction module and with the automatic surface command generates all the surface, but you have to be careful, as automatisms do not do miracles, if the relief or the sl are ugly, the result will be similar.

first of all you have to understand what it is and then operate accordingly (the relief is aimed at creating a model of body shop? is a pipe?) according to that, the procedure is established.

if you can post some pictures

Hi.

It's a reconstruction of a body shop. ..practically I am proceeding in this way, through the environment typized shape editor I amount the stl file then I cut out through the command "activate - brush " small portions of surfaces that later I go to turn into dead surfaces. .obviously it is a very approximate job because in some points the generated surface is a lot.
Thanks for the help :)

often with better resolved sections, if you notice there is the possibility to create multiple planes and sections that you can change, smooth etc. often the sl has "creste" and using the brush if you delete the result is better.

Hello.

Bye-bye.
I am also trying through another road..with the use of the image & shape environment. For example, I am reconstructing a steering wheel overlaying a "beautiful" and ironing the surfaces of my interest..so that it is a somewhat barbaric procedure because in the end you do not have the history of the model but to take measures can go.I also tried the method you suggested me, to create plans with sections and then with sweep and multisection recreating the surfaces, much better but longer....I have to dismantle a few x

Hello warcraft,

I know only superficially the image & shape module and personally it doesn't seem easy to use, but it could be a road...

But now you have written "to take measures can go well", but you just have to take measures or rebuild the surfaces?

I sent you a private message
