the purpose of this communication is to provide you with an update on ptc’s maintenance support plans for pro/intralink 3.4. as previously announced in june 2005 and as posted on the ptc product calendar, the standard support end date for pro/intralink 3.4 is june 2008 with the last regularly scheduled maintenance release planned for the second calendar quarter of 2008. however, after careful consideration of customer requests, ptc has decided to offer an alternative for those customers interested in a continuation of pro/intralink 3.4 support. this new offering will allow customers to purchase an extended support period for pro/intralink 3.4, lasting from july 1, 2008 to june 30, 2009, enabling more time to complete migrations to a windchill-based solution. the price of this special offering will be an additional 10% of the customer’s current pro/intralink maintenance fee. furthermore, ptc has decided to expand the capabilities of pro/intralink 3.4 m060 to include pro/engineer wildfire 4.0 compatibility. this compatibility will require the use of pro/intralink 3.4 m060 and a maintenance release of pro/engineer wildfire 4.0 (to be determined at a later date). also, customers should be aware that the pro/intralink gateway will not support pro/intralink 3.4 m060 or any future maintenance releases. since pro/intralink 3.4 m060 is scheduled to be available within the standard support timeframe, existing maintenance-paying customers are entitled to it without needing to purchase the extended support option. these changes will allow customers that have not yet moved to a windchill-based solution for pro/engineer data management (pro/intralink 8.0 or later, or windchill pdmlink 8.0 or later) to experience the productivity advantages of pro/engineer wildfire 4.0. however, ptc strongly encourages its pro/intralink 3.4 customers to actively move forward with their migration to a windchill-based solution. the value of this migration has been magnified with the recent release of windchill 9.0, which includes pro/intralink 9.0 and windchill pdmlink 9.0. these new versions exceed pro/intralink 3.4 in every meaningful dimension, providing improved usability, enhanced pro/engineer integration and data management, and the opportunity to achieve business process optimization. for those opting not to purchase this extended support offering, the support discontinuance date of pro/intralink 3.4 remains june 30, 2008.
