At first I was willing to repeat one of my old on the tablet, but I think it's the case to open a new one.

It's been a long time since I've been looking for, I've been testing, and what else do I understand in my hands to be able to fully exploit the new electronic devices that the world propanes to us :)
time ago I was looking on the web of the programs cad and not, in order to take notes and sketch some drawing on the fly on the tablet, all without great success because the various programs I found did not reflect my expectations at best. I was looking for something that had the same rendering of writing/drawing on paper, but so far research and evidence did not give the results hoped.

But I've been encapsulated for a month in these "smart pens" that have been around for a couple of years and I didn't know. from what I have seen are used by university students first, at least by what they advertise.
What am I (for who does not know them)? are pens that record through infrared what you write on simple paper, and then transfer to the pc how much you wrote/disegned in the form of jpg/bmp/tiff image etc. or pdf document. for the written text there are also ocr software that convert writing, many are compatible with ms office/outlook and work both on pc windows and on mac osx.
the last ones I have seen in addition to windows/apple systems are also compatible with android, so smartphones and tablets or for ipad/ipod.

on the web are found with different search names, including "smartpen" , "intellipen" , "intelligenous pen" , "digital pen" or "digital pen".
as brands there are several and range from 50-60 euros to 170-200 euros depending on the brand and characteristics (intellipen, smartscribe, staedtler, logitech, wacom). have more or less the same characteristics, that is formed by a pen and a receiver that should be placed above the blocknotes and can store up to 100 pages.

At the moment, what I could see for those we say economic is that the limit of drawings/texts is given by the fact that they are saved as an image, some also have ocr software, while the more expensive ones like wacom inkling allows to draw and save sketches and export files directly to photoshop or illustrator or on programs like autodesk sketchbook as vector graphics.

I had searched some store from my side if they had these pens, but without success, so I decided to buy one on ebay (I think that by the prox week I get from the land). I took it compatible pc/apple/android, because I was more interested in PC/android compatibility. on the market google there are free apps that manage these pens. the most interesting thing is that for smartphones or tablets the transfer is done via bluetooth.

the last step (which I have not yet found and I have no idea if esite) is to be able to manage the sketches made on paper directly with the cad, i.e. import the sketches and then manipulate them and complete them on the cad.

for the moment I close here.
Hi.

You practically just skip the scanner operation?
we say yes, currently in the office to store certain paper documents that are not created on the computer or that date back to 10-15 years ago, I use the scanner, this pen from my point of view should give something more.

I forgot to indicate that connected directly to the pc (the receiver connected to the pc), some of these pens act as a mouse, you can then work directly on electronic documents as if you were writing on paper.

all have the standard ballpoints so when the ink finishes, it changes quietly.

Let's say that my point of arrival would be to eliminate the use of paper, at least what I waste while using an 80% recycled (a3-a4 of the drawings don't throw them but I write behind them), but at the moment I consider it a good compromise.

staedtler?
You will understand my interest primary for such a thing!
It would open me a new "era" and I could "repay you" with a new series of "histories" that lately "wrap" me in the head, but that having to write on the damn tabletstelefonmattoni makes me impossible to materialize.

p.s.: "I do," this is like air for the agonizing. . .

I could not interpret well between the lines . however place a little link (of the site + video youtube indicative) so you do a culture deeper on these pens

I'll explain.
writing on paper would allow me to return to my "field", that typically "ancient" of a different young man like me!

I'm sorry for indiscretion, but how much is the model you chose?
the digital pen cost me 83 euro, 71 pen and 12 england shipping, here in italy this model did not find it among my researches so I leaned on ebay since I use it and so far never had any problem. the shop I took (they still have it) sells it to 58 pounds + 10 shipping. that of the staedtler is to 100 euros +7 shipment, the wacom inkling goes from 150 to 190 euros depending on the site +10 sped, the intellipen that I have seen to be and cheaper are to 50 euros +10 sped and the apen to 84 +10 sped.

These are the prices found on ebay and some other research outside, but it can be quietly found even less.

Hi.
excluding wacom (more suitable for design and not compatible with android) and economic ones, it seems to me that only staedtler and e-pens remain.
Would it look like "homologous," confirms that the e-pens has the built-in ocr? I didn't understand the staedtler.
I would be tempted by the staedtler, the name would evoke ancient and loving sensations, so the heart beats for her, but I could always decide differently.

then the e-pens http://www.e-pens.com/it/product/mobile-notes-pro-2/ (look at this link on the strengths) I took is the only one I saw compatibility with Android systems from 2.1 onwards and even blackberry I forgot to write.
for others I did not read anything about android compatibility or on the sites remained in the vague and I failed to find more detailed info.

The stapedler evokes my classic yellow/black pencil with red loop hb2:biggrin: http://www.staedtler.it/digital_pen_it#ctl07_tab-product-tab-1However the digital version only works on pc and it is not indicated anywhere compatibility with android.

for both is included the ocr writing recognition software that is called myscript.

I preferred it e-pens because it is the only one at the moment compatible with all the devices and as price saving approximately 24 euros regarding the staedtler.
as a quality I will tell you...

ps: of e-pens I saw that there are 2 models:
there is the "mobile notes" that is like the others and is not compatible android, and the "mobile notes pro" that has bluetooth embedded and is compatible android. The latter is the one I bought.

But I didn't understand how it works. What does "infrared recording" mean?
look at the paper texture how does the optical mouse do? is based on accelerometers, so if you write up or walking it doesn't work?

from the sites and videos I've seen they're talking about infrared... How they work I haven't even assimilated it yet. It would seem to be an interpolation between the internal device to the pen and the fixed one that makes from immagazine/transfer pages.

I found this site... of infrared do not speak of it, so I will have read bad info from other sites or other sites have written things to the ac-dc.
http://www.altroconsumo.it/hi-tech/nc/news/digital-pen-che-cos-e-e-come-funzionathe link is of 2010... it seems that the quality has improved since. here speaks that the pen sends a signal to the receiver, what kind of signal you do not know.
http://www.bigodino.it/tecnologia/sono-arrivate-le-digital-pen_a.htmlon this speak of wireless receiver..

Wouldn't a samsung galaxy known 2 do the same thing?
you without cellulose under your hands are lost, I understand that the trade of Amanuense is fascinating ... but :-)

I can't read a book from a tablet or any screen.
I really miss physical contact with paper.
for this I am an old reprobo that has on consciousness some tree of the Amazon turned into paper. :frown:
I have to say that I'm very fond of this pen.
almost...

Yes, on reading books I agree perfectly, I also refuse to read them in electronic format.
on the speech instead of taking notes on the paper and digitizing them through the pen I would prefer to do it directly on the screen, you do not need to take you behind the pen (which is already integrated in the note) and its reader.

I understand that writing on paper is more natural and instinctive ... but taking other devices (to recharge amongst others) is a real ball.

It would be fine, sin the small screen... a paper a4 corresponds to a 13", tablet of these measures besides the price I have not seen, however also your option of the known galaxy 2 is not to be discarded.

I am a "gnorant" person because I do not read many books, but I can tell you that apart from the first ebook readers marketed, the last born and placed on the market have a screen with a veryoo rendering similar to the printed paper, just eye it and hand.

I would also prefer to do it on the screen or on a portable system just to delete the paper completely. as already mentioned at the beginning of the thread I had at its time tried with the Chinese tablet and various programs but with negative outcome. These pens also have the possibility to be used directly to write to the pc, replace the ink tip with a fake, write to the table and appear as written directly on the monitor.
between my research as mentioned are at the current date of October 2012 approached these pens. time ago I also posted the link of a similtablet device that did to my case, but I haven't heard of it anymore.http://www.blessthisstuff.com/stuff...dia/noteslate-the-tablet-that-imitates-paper/http://noteslate.org/blog/q42012/

My daughter has been using wacom graphic tablets for years to draw, a strong and professional use and with tablets that cost an eye (I can guarantee you!).
the tablet is the top a3 model (real work area a4) in addition to which there is only the active screen, a kind of 2500 heuri sboron monitor.
well, after years, still today, often prefers to draw on paper and scan and then complete the work with photoschioppa.
because, despite a professional pen with calibrated friction, variable pressure, "chenontepossodi" resolution, paper and pen are an unsurpassed combination.
writing on the tablet is like driving a car in a video game, fun, but if you put tires on the ground there's no story.
The paper, not all the same, is the asphalt, and the pen the tire (it is said "lo" but makes me sense: ).
will be that we are omg (genetically modified) from the time of the papyri. .

Take a ride on the wacom website and see what their pen does.

I don't let my daughter know otherwise. . .

I have long been using a wacom tablet, instead of the maus
unsurpassed... But I can't do what I do with the pencil.
question of feeling
and I swear I don't make any "professional" use like your daughter

Your daughter will be very happy to know that the pope pays frankly a tool that does not use!
and above all, it will be glad to know that the papi tells him around to dogs and pigs (in the category of pigs I put myself... )
