laundry surface, where am i wrong?

in a set of solid edge st (100) I have to create a component that I prefer to shape as a surface.

the component is seen in the figure, it is a metal seal. I never use the surfaces, but I thought it was easy: I use the command "superfici contour", but the feature fails (loop must be closed) if I include the edges of the holes for prisoners (three small holes) and the edge of the cylinder barrel with beamed light. if I only use outer edge everything ok.

what is the right technique to make a simple laundry surface?

You must first make the "non-cleaned" surface and then cut it.

I don't understand why you prefer to go through the surfaces.
you force yourself to use many commands when with one protrusion you can do everything.
