phenom iix4 980 3.7 ghz quad core around 70€
phenom iix6 1100t 3.3 ghz esa core around 105-130€
2x 8gb ram ddr3 pc3-10600 1333mhz....about 80€ new
for the video card there is the embarrassment of the choice from 30 to 160€ you will find better vga of the 210 until you arrive to the rx 480 that in the cad knows the fact its although not being cerified and a firepro w5100 4gb around 100€ or less.
the total spending ranges from 250€ to 400€ depending on how you move...

I could evaluate the purchase of win10 home on usb pen (150.00), replace the processor immediately looking for a cpu with am3 socket (100.00-150.00)... "return" xp sp3 with win10 and continue the hardware update (ram, video card etc) when I have economic availability (more' forward)... that you say... an update so it seems more 'indolore' at the economic level of a purchase from 600-800 euros (in block) of a regenerated pc. . .

the pc is really old, risk to spend 200-300€ and then have to change everything in a little bit. If you decide the same on this street, as far as cpu socket am3 is now out of production, maybe find something on ebay and however you have to bet on the used or on stock funds. 16gb ram ddr3 you find new ones at about 70/80€ and video card are another 150€ for a new base level (but at this point I would also look for you a used one).

as written in the previous installments seriously evaluates to invest on food 1000€ of pcs that you will take diert for another 5/8 years.

in both cases install windows 10 and from scratch, solve a lot of problems!! I speak from experience, do not upgrade. Then, if you have special programs that don't support you w10, install an emulator with the operating system you need.

You have no problem. this happens only by changing the disk. in your case change cpu, ram, video card (or whatever you want) and then update the drivers simply... Either way, cross your fingers!

I draw a used off warranty, about 50%, 60% of the value of a new video card of equal performance, shipping included. But it seems that my idea does not collimate with the market :confused:
so far I have almost always bought new.

for video cards according to me it is risky to buy them used, unless (uncommon case) the price is almost gift.
are components that usually heat a lot and are often stressed out, there is the risk of buying them or that they do not work from the beginning or that after a short time they fail.

hi gil, for video cards I looked at ebay where I noticed amd rx 480 and rx 580 at about 120-160€

I give you a tip.... maybe there is still a chance to upgrade from win xp to win 10 for free with the old win xp serial....microsoft offered this opportunity to expand the spread of win 10.

the procedure is this... scan the iso of win 10 and install it as the serial asks you enter the one of win xp or win 7....I tried this procedure on two pcs with win 7 and so I went to win 10. by xp not absolute certainty but an attempt I would do it.

about win10: I used it for a while and it didn't bother me. the only rupture of boxes was that he was making updates when he wanted and lately it seems to me that he takes more time to upgrade him than a user uses it.
